General Home Swap Questions
1. Is it free to exchange homes?
It does not cost anything to exchange homes. (Though we recommend checking with the landlords in event of a policy change)
2. Are there any legal fees involved?
There are no legal fees payable by anyone involved in the exchange. (Though we recommend checking with the landlords in event of a policy change)
3. Who pays for the removal costs?
The tenants involved in the exchange pay for their own removal costs.
4. How long does it take to exchange?
It can take as little as 42 days from the date that all parties hand in their exchange application paperwork.
5. Can i move if i have rent arrears?
No all arrears must be cleared before an exchange can go ahead.
6. Can i move if i have been served an eviction notice?
No you can not, as you are about to be evicted from your home and your exchange application will not be accepted.
7. Can i move anywhere?
Yes as long as it is within the UK
8. I have an adapted property can i still exchange?
Yes you can still exchange, you have the option to look for either adapted or non adapted homes though do not expect the landlord to adapt a swapped property to your needs, you may wish to discuss this with them before entering into a swap.
9. Can anyone move into an adapted property?
No, the tenants or a member from their household must meet the criteria to move into an adapted home, Usually they must be in receipt of Disability Living Allowance DLA
10. Can a council tenant swap with a housing association tenant and visa versa?
Yes as long as both parties are either assured or secure tenants.
11. Will the council or housing association landlord decorate the house for me when i move in?
The answer is no, you must arrange to decorate yourself.
12. What do i do if i decide i dont want to move and ive already handed in my exchange application?
You must inform both landlords and the other party or parties involved in the move immediately. Dont delay it as this will be distressing for everyone involved.
13. What if i exchange and then i dont like the house or area. Can i move back to my old house?
You could only move back if the other party agrees too and you would both have to start the exchange process again! If they do not agree then the answer is No!
14. What does RTB stand for?
It means Right to Buy
15. How can i find out if i have the Right to Buy the home i want to exchange into?
We suggest you contact the other parties landlord to find out more information regarding the right to buy after exchanging.

How to use The Move Me Silly Site
1. How do i join Move Me Silly?
You can join by clicking here
2. Do i have to pay to join MoveMeSilly.co.uk?
Yes you do there are two subscriptions a basic general account and a VIP account
3. What is general membership?
- 3 x Exchange Adverts = 1 in your County board and 1 in property types and sizes board plus a multiswap if you have a chain to complete
- Unlimited Personal Messages large storage inbox/outbox
- Email Members
- Unlimited Replies to Adverts
*Exception to the Rule Adapted Homes also can have an extra advert in the adapted properties section!
4. What is VIP membership?
VIP members receive the benefits of general members though VIP members can also have a featured advert.
5. Where do i add my advert?
To the approvals board which will show as soon as you log into the site. It will be above all of the exchange advert boards.
6. I added my advert to approvals but i cant see it.
All adverts within the approvals board are hidden until approved, as advert content is checked to make sure its suitable for the MoveMeSilly site.
7. How do i find my advert?
At the top of the forum to the right hand side you will find your username on click on this will help you find all of your adverts and other information related to your membership.
8. How do i reply to other adverts?
At the bottom of every advert you will find a reply box type your reply in to the box provided and send. Alternatively there is also a reply button above each of the adverts.
9. How do i edit my advert?
Go to your advert, and below it you will find an edit button click on it too make the changes to your advert, you will not be able to alter your title.
10. How do i replace my advert?
Simply add new adverts to the approvals board.
11. What is advert bumping?
Advert bumping simply means moving your advert back to the top of the list on the board its on, so its seen before other adverts.
12. How do i bump up my advert?
You can simply bump your advert by actually replying to your own advert and leave a simply message such as im still looking for an exchange!
13. How do i send a personal message (pm)?
On a members advert you will see their username to the left of the advert click on the name and their profile will appear you will then see the option to send a message.
14. How do i send a member an email?
View their profile, if a member has added their contact information you will be able to email them, alternatively you can send them a message within the profile as well.
15. What do i do if a member is harrassing me?
Contact your landlord and/or the police. MoveMeSilly never gets involved with member disputes, though are willing to delete content from adverts that does not relate to a move!
16. How do i change my username?
You are not able to change your username, you will need to request for your account to be deleted and register a new account.
17. How do i change my email address within my account?
Go to your profile by clicking on your name at the top right of the forum site, then choose the my settings option, you will then be able to change your email address and password.
18.How do i contact an administrator?
At the top of the forum you will find a link to Email MoveMeSilly
19. How do i cancel my payment subscription?
By logging into your own Paypal account and removing the subscription from there. MoveMeSilly can not do this for you, as we have no access to your banking details or paypal accounts and will never request for this information.
20. How do i delete my adverts as i no longer want to exchange?
Below each of the adverts or replies you have personally made you will find a delete button, so you can delete your own content.
21. How do i cancel my membership account
Email MoveMeSilly and request for the account to be deleted. Though before you do so we request that you delete your own adverts and replies to other members yourself. Memberships are deleted in batches so it will not be effective immediately on the date of request.
22. Can i add my telephone number to my adverts and replies?
We recommend that you do not, we are not be responsible for any unwanted telephone calls or text messages. MoveMeSilly suggests sending all personal contact details via Personal Message to interested parties only.
23. Can i add my email address or skype details to my adverts and replies?
We recommend that you do not, we are not be responsible for any unwanted communications. MoveMeSilly suggests sending all personal contact details via Personal Message to interested parties only.
24.Can i add my home address/road name or house name to my advert?
MoveMeSilly suggests that you never do, but if you choose too you do so at your own risk. We will not be held responsible for unwanted visitors of any description.
